An incomplete list of books that I've read and liked. Or not liked. And would recommend. Or not recommend. But mostly would.

The Alchemist's Apprentice by Dave Duncan
Entertaining, relatively quick read, although I skipped some stuff in the middle. The protagonist is egotistical and causes most of his own trouble by having a smart mouth and a quick mind (and vice versa), but there is a bit of fantasy thrown in with the possibility of demons and the fortune-telling/divination. Set in Italy in the Renaissance years, with humor and adventure.
